1. What does my start-up need to qualify for Roularta Mediatech Accelerator?

Roularta Mediatech Accelerator is aimed at media technology and advertising technology start-ups. In other words, start-ups which will contribute something to the future of media or advertising, or perhaps even completely rewrite it. It’s not enough to just have a good idea. Our jury will also expect the following things from your start-up:

    • Your start-up must be an established business, i.e. you must already have a VAT number.
    • Your start-up must already have some regular customers. You should have at least 20% retention.
    • You should have at least two channels for bringing in new customers, and you should be able to demonstrate this to us. (e.g. “If I invest 1 euro in Facebook ads, it will generate 2 euros for my start-up.”)
    • Your product should be robust and scalable: if you were to suddenly get 100,000 new users in a day, this should not be a problem.
    • You should have a well-thought-out pricing strategy.
    • You should be able to present a business plan.

    • *Scalability* – Your start-up should easily be able to handle a sudden influx of 100,000 extra users. Alternatively, you should be able to present a plan for how you will achieve this.
    • *Marketing* – You have identified which marketing channels will most effectively acquire new users/customers for your start-up and you can back this up with figures.
    • *Pricing* – You have a clear pricing strategy for your product.

    5. It is clear what Roularta Mediatech Accelerator can offer me, but what do they want in return?

For the 25,000 euros of funding and 200,000 euros worth of media coverage offered to start-ups selected by Roularta Mediatech Accelerator, Roularta Media Group takes a share of 5%. Depending on the start-up, this may be either a convertible note or straight equity. This means you are still a 95% shareholder.

Following the 18-week long Accelerator programme, there will be a graduation day. On this day, as well as pitching, the 10 start-ups will have the opportunity to talk to Roularta Media Group, VCs and business angels about their possible next steps of mentoring.
